Cheikh Ndoye & Friends

The depth of Washington, DC-based, Senegalese bassist and composer Cheikh Ndoye’s artistry is more than evident on his first CD release – A Child’s Tale. Ndoye has reached even greater heights as of late through his collaborations with one of Africa’s most precious voices: Baaba Maal. After first inviting Maal to join the “Cheikh Ndoye & Friends” all-star cast of Grammy award winner Cuban drummer Raul Pineda and violonist Karen Briggs among others, Ndoye joined forces again with Maal on international tours that took him successively through such stages as London, Exeter, Cambridge (England) for the Glastonbury, Womad Festivals, etc.), Jerusalem (Israel), Paris (France), Barcelona, Madrid (Spain), The Reunion Islands, Ireland, Germany… Cheikh Ndoye & Friends headlined the 24th edition of the Saint Louis International Jazz Festival in Senegal. Ndoye’s international career is still reaching far and wide as suggested by his schedule. (…)
